"Monday Market Day" (MMD)

Tole Friends wants to give everyone the possibility to advertise via the mailing list for items members are selling, though at the same time, we do not want to lose our concept of being an informative and educative network for decorative artists.

For this reason, our Board decided to limit any advertising activity to one day per week, Monday Market Day (MMD). Please take this into account and limit any sales related messages to Mondays, following the easy rules explained below.

Also, especially if you plan to advertise on Mondays, please remember to introduce yourself with a short message first.

If you have any questions, please take the time to write to us or check out how it works on any Monday before sending YOUR first MMD advertisement.

All advertising for the entire week is placed on Monday Market Day ONLY. (This includes anyone wanting to sell used books / packets, unused books/packets, painted items, supplies, surfaces, designers advertising their NEW books and packets as well as e-bay auctions etc.)

MMD must appear in the subject line. Example: MMD tole supplies or MMD painted clock, etc.

Only advertisements for sales taking place elsewhere (store, auction site, other trading site, website) are permitted. Tole Friends will not become a trading place for on-line transactions of any kind.

Sale/swap of used books and packets. These should not be listed and offered for sale directly through the list. You should do this using any of the lists and sites on the Internet, which SPECIALIZE in these transactions. From looking into a few of these sites and/or lists, we were able to learn that there are special steps or rules in order to organize these transactions without too many problems. The places on the Internet, which we have checked out, are free or require offering one item to sell/swap to join. They are well organized and their purpose is the transactions of used books/packets between their members. You can easily find these sites doing a search on the internet or you can send a message to the list asking for recommendations.

If you have items to sell but do not have your own website, please offer these in any way that will provide interested buyers with a clickable link, NOT by simply requesting "email me personally"; this could be an album site (most are free), any of the sites / list dedicated to sell painting supplies or an auction site and then send a short MMD message to Tole Friends, announcing "I am selling over 40 used books in excellent conditions through xxxxx"

Advertising of classes by stores, chapters, home-studios and teachers. Please understand that "letting know" about a class by a special teacher or a class/seminar that you will teach, IS an advertisement - IS a commercial endeavor and therefore needs to be mentioned on Mondays only. A week passes fast, so if you missed one Monday, write the draft for the next one. We all know that planning these classes takes much more than one week and while planning the class and how to spread the information, include MMD in your list. Then announce it every Monday until your class or seminar has filled - that way you can reach folks more than once.

Ads are to be for TOLE related items only. Not grandpa's train collection.

Posted messages will be checked by one or more volunteers AFTER these appear on the list for content as well as timing. Those placing "non-tole" ads, or advertising on other days of the week, will be contacted with two reminders. The moment, a third reminder is needed; the privilege of being a member of the list will be lost.  Remember the rule "three strikes and you are out."

Advertisers must include a full signature line at the end of the post including: name, location (state or province), e-mail address and or website address.

MMD advertisments can ONLY be sent to the list by the advertiser and not through another member. If any MMD message does not show up on the list, the advertising member needs to contact the board at board@tolefriends.com in order to find out possible reasons.

Advertising for commercial endeavors on Mondays with a MMD message on the Tole Friends list is one of the many perks for members, but should not be abused or "pushed" by asking other members to constantly promote these endeavors on the Tole Friends list. 

Tole Friends cannot and will not be held liable for "lost sales."  No member can claim "lost sales” or any other disadvantages caused by late or not showing MMD messages, nor may they request to send a not showing message on another day. 

MMD messages are ONLY to be sent for sales and/or other commercial related events (paid classes, seminars, sale of painting related items on websites, auction sites, etc.). Further members may announce sales or other promotions as part of their signature at the bottom of a list message.
